Oakland-Alameda Water Shuttle Preparing for Summer Launch
Boat modifications are complete! Woodstock now has a new open floorplan with bike racks and some benches, along with wide folding gangways. City, Port of Oakland, and WETA staff have made further progress pursuing final permits and authorizations, including from BCDC (Bay Conservation & Development Corporation) and the US Coast Guard. The service launch is still planned for this summer, but a specific date can’t be set until external approval dates are assured.

Neighborhood Greenways
Staff have engaged a planning and engineering consultant and are developing an approach to implementing quick-build designs to convert three Slow Streets (Pacific Ave, Versailles Ave and San Jose Ave) to Neighborhood Greenways by the end of 2025, with construction to begin on at least one conversion this year. When the scoping portion is done with the consultant, staff will share the project approach and timeline, and a project web page will be created.

Lincoln/Marshall/Pacific Corridor Project - Design in Progress and Awaiting Grant Funds
The project is in the design phase, with the consultant team working on 35% design drawings expected this summer. In May, the City re-submitted a $16 million federal Safe Streets and Roads for All grant application with a $4 million local match to fund construction. In addition, the project will receive a $375,000 state earmark from Assemblymember Mia Bonta to continue design, pending City Council approval later this year. Finally, a $3 million federal earmark with a 20% local match requirement has been included in the Highway Infrastructure Program, though this still requires approval from Congress and the President, expected by September as part of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development bill. There are no guarantees that federal earmarks will remain in the final bill.

More project updates will be provided for the August 28 Transportation Commission meeting as part of the Transportation Status Report.
