CITY OF ALAMEDA HISTORICAL ADVISORY BOARD
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2025
1. ROLL CALL
Present: Chair Hernandez, Vice Chair Sanchez and Board Members Bevan and Brito.
Absent: Board Member Rybarczyk
Chair Hernandez acknowledged (*00:37) former Vice Chair Jones and Board Member Borthwick and that they both had recently resigned. The board thanked them for their service.

Vice Chair Sanchez made a motion (*2:09) to approve the meeting minutes by consent for meeting minutes November 7, 2024, and December 5, 2024. Chair Hernandez seconded the motion, and the motion passed 4-0.
4. REGULAR AGENDA ITEMS
4-A 2025-4766 - Review and Comment on the Urban Forest Plan and Implementation.

Public Comment for Item 4-A
Alex Spehr (Zoom - *32:20) had questions about which trees could handle more saline. She pointed out that with climate change and saltwater intrusion certain trees can’t handle that much salt water. She also asked that some type of palm tree be used to replace the trees on Burbank since they were rated SG significant grade. She also gave suggestions on other replacement trees.
Chritopher Buckley (Zoom - *35:14) discussed a letter he had sent and went over points in the letter. He then went into detail about comments made by staff.

4-B 2025-4767 - PLN25-0030 - Certificate of Approval - 2501 Todd Street, Building 116, Alameda Point. Applicant: City of Alameda. Public hearing to consider a Certificate of Approval for demolition of Building 116, a contributing structure determined by the Chief Building Official to be unsafe to occupy and a public safety hazard, located in the NAS Alameda Historic District. The City of Alameda certified the Alameda Point Final Environmental Impact Report (State Clearinghouse No. 201312043), which evaluated the environmental impacts of redevelopment and reuse of the lands at Alameda Point, including building demolition, subject to certain mitigation measures, which have been implemented. No further environmental review is required for this project.

Vice Chair Sanchez made a motion (*1:24:15) to approve the resolution for the demolition of building 116 2501 Todd Street. Board Member Bevan seconded the motion, and the motion carried 4-0.
