EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This item is a regularly occurring agenda item to discuss the City of Alameda’s Housing and Human Services. The Social Service Human Relations Board (SSHRB) oversees the City’s social services programs, including those designed to prevent and alleviate homelessness in Alameda and help individuals and families currently experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of becoming homeless.
BACKGROUND
This item is a regularly occurring agenda item to discuss the City of Alameda’s Housing and Human Services. SSHRB advises the City Council on the City’s social services programs, including those designed to prevent and alleviate homelessness in Alameda and helping individuals and families currently experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of becoming homeless.
In October 2021, the Alameda City Council approved the Road Home: A Five-Year Plan to Prevent and Respond to Homelessness in Alameda. Bi-annual status reports on the progress of the Plan’s strategies were reported to SSHRB on January 31, 2024, and July 25, 2024. The next biannual report on Housing and Human services will be presented to the Board during the February meeting.
DISCUSSION
This item is for discussion purposes only. At the meeting, City staff will provide a verbal status report to SSHRB on current housing and human-related services, which may include but not limited to such activities as the Winter Warming Centers, status of encampments, Emergency Supportive Housing, inclusionary housing, funding opportunities, prevention programs, interim supportive housing, Day Center Services and The Road Home: A Five-Year Plan to Prevent and Respond to Homelessness in Alameda.
