Title
Adoption of Resolution Setting the 2022 Regular City Council Meeting Dates. (City Clerk 10012010)
Body
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Every year, the City Council is required to adopt a resolution setting the meeting dates for the following year. The proposed resolution sets City Council meetings as the first and third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m., with the exception of October, which could be held on the first and third Wednesday instead. There will be no meetings in August.
BACKGROUND
Section 3-7 (B) of the City Charter and Alameda Municipal Code Section 2-1.1 require that the City Council adopt a resolution setting the dates of its regular meetings in December of the preceding year.
DISCUSSION
Other than August when no meetings will be held, the proposed resolution sets regular meetings as the first and third Tuesday of each month. In 2022, the General Municipal Election will be held on November 8, which does not conflict with the November 1 meeting. The Social Service Human Relations Board reviewed the matter of meeting dates this year and suggested that members of every City body review meeting dates to ensure maximum attendance. The City Council approved the recommendation on December 7, 2021. A Councilmember proposed not holding meetings on October 4th and 18th. Instead, the meetings could be on the first and third Wednesday, October 5th and 19th. If desired, additional modifications can be made to the dates in the future.
