Title

Adoption of Resolution Setting the 2023 Regular City Council Meeting Dates.  (City Clerk 10012010)

Body

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Every year, the City Council is required to adopt a resolution setting the meeting dates for the following year.  The proposed resolution sets City Council meetings as the first and third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m., with the exception of July and August. The first meeting in July will move to Wednesday, July 5 due to the 4th of July holiday.  There will be no meetings in August.

BACKGROUND

Section 3-7 (B) of the City Charter and Alameda Municipal Code Section 2-1.1 require that the City Council adopt a resolution setting the dates of its regular meetings in December of the preceding year.

DISCUSSION

On December 7, 2021, the City Council approved the Social Service Human Relations Board’s recommendation to have members of every City of Alameda (City) body review meeting dates to ensure maximum attendance.  Members of the City Council were polled and have not proposed changing any 2023 meeting dates.

Since the first Tuesday in July 2023 is the 4th of July holiday, the meeting will be moved to Wednesday, July 5, 2023.

The City Council may propose to modify the 2023 meeting dates at the December 20, 2022 meeting.  In the future, City Council can also adopt a resolution changing the 2023 meeting dates.

ALTERNATIVES

Set the 2023 regular City Council meeting dates as described in the attached resolution.
