BACKGROUND
 
On September 18, 2012, the City Council adopted plans and specifications and authorized a call for bids for cyclic sewer replacement project, phase 10, No. P.W. 05-12-14.  On December 4, 2012, the City Council allocated $477,067 for contingencies and awarded a construction contract in the amount of $3,180,933, to Ranger Pipelines, Inc. for the project.  The project included rehabilitation of approximately 17,700 linear feet of existing sanitary sewer pipeline, 10,000 linear feet of service laterals, 30 manholes, and other associated work.
 
DISCUSSION
 
The project is complete in accordance with the plans and specifications, and is acceptable to the Public Works Department.  The project bid amount with contingency was $3,658,000.  The final project cost was $3,491,702.25, therefore this project was under budget by $166,297.75.
 
FINANCIAL IMPACT
 
The funds for this project are budgeted in the Public Works Department's account for Capital Improvement Program (Project No. 9950210) with monies from the Sewer Enterprise Fund (Fund 602).  There is no impact to the General Fund.
 
MUNICIPAL CODE/POLICY DOCUMENT CROSS REFERENCE
 
This action does not affect the Alameda Municipal Code.
 
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
 
Prior to the project initiation, this project was determined to be Categorically Exempt under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) guidelines, Section 15301 (b), Existing Facilities.  No additional environmental review is required under CEQA to accept the completed improvements.
 
RECOMMENDATION
 
Accept the work of Ranger Pipelines, Inc. for cyclic sewer replacement project, phase 10, No. P.W. 05-12-14.
