EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

 

The City Council is required to adopt a resolution to certify the results of the General Municipal Election. 

 

BACKGROUND

 

Elections Code Section 10262 requires the governing body of the City of Alameda to adopt a resolution declaring the results of an election.

 

DISCUSSION

 

The Canvass of Returns for the Consolidated General Municipal Election held on November 5, 2024 will be Exhibit A to the Resolution.  At the time of agenda publication, the Alameda County Registrar of Voters had not provided the official Canvass.  A revised resolution will be published once the Canvass of Returns are received and final numbers will be inserted accordingly.

 

Offices:

                     Candidates Michele Pryor and Greg Boller received the two highest number of votes cast for and are elected to the office of Councilmember. 

 

                     Candidate Kevin R. Kearney received the highest number of votes cast for and is elected to the office of Auditor.

 

                     Candidate Kevin Kennedy received the highest number of votes cast for and is elected to the office of Treasurer.

 

ALTERNATIVES

 

City Council is required to certify the election results, therefore, alternatives are not being provided.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

 

The funds for this election were budgeted in the City Clerk’s Election Program in the General Fund. No additional appropriations are needed.

City Charter Sections 2-6.1, 2-14. Article XIX and 22-9 and Elections Code Section 10262.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW

 

This action does not constitute a “project” as defined in California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines Section 15378 and therefore no further CEQA analysis is required.

 

CLIMATE IMPACT

 

There are no identifiable climate impacts or climate action opportunities associated with the subject of this report. 

 

RECOMMENDATION

 

Adopt a resolution declaring canvass of returns and results of the Consolidated General Municipal Election held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
