C. UPDATES

Comprehensive updates are in Agenda Item 6B: Status Report on Transportation. A few highlights of recent or current activities are below.

Gibbons Dr/ High St/Fernside Blvd Public Engagement Launch

The week of September 22, the City will launch its public outreach period regarding design and phasing alternatives for this intersection, based on a recently completed traffic study. More information, including the upcoming events, online survey, and project documents, will be available on the project webpage.

Grand Street Phase 1 Construction

Grand Street Phase 1, Shore Line to Otis, is substantially complete with its two-way bikeway and improved bus stop and crosswalks. Curb stops were recently placed between the travel lane and bikeway to separate the bikeway and help prevent illegal parking in the bikeway. The City is monitoring this parking behavior and will add more elements as needed. The City is now working on the design of Grand Street Phase 2, Otis to Encinal.

ADA Improvements at the Harbor Bay Ferry Terminal

Work on the Harbor Bay Business Park Bus Stop and Ferry Terminal Improvements is almost complete. To date, the asphalt path and ADA compliant parking stalls at the Harbor Bay Ferry Terminal have been paved and the concrete bus stops have been poured. The outstanding work is to install the bus shelters when they arrive later this year.

High Injury Corridors Daylighting Project Completed

In August, the City completed daylighting on Tier 3 High Injury Corridors. With Tiers 1 and 2 completed in earlier years, the City has added daylighting to most of the High Injury Corridors identified in the Vision Zero Action Plan. The remaining locations on High Injury Corridors will be addressed by current and upcoming capital projects, such as the Central Avenue Safety Improvements project.

SF Bay Ferry’s South San Francisco Service Study

SF Bay Ferry is considering changes to their South San Francisco ferry route to ensure its long-term financial sustainability. This route currently serves Alameda’s Main St ferry terminal as well as Jack London Square in Oakland. Community members are encouraged to share their thoughts by the end of the month. More information, including outreach events and an online survey, is at <https://sanfranciscobayferry.com/south-sf-study/>
