Board clarifying questions start at the 40:17-minute mark in the video.

Public Comments for 4-A

Woody Minor (*43:08) wanted to know why the applicant was not there and felt the staff report was a bit biased and too “pro-development” and downplayed the potential significance of the building. He discussed the history of the building and its architectural significance. He stated that this was a very important building in the history of Alameda and that more experts needed to weigh in on if it could be saved.

Speaker Minor did ask about commenting on the Tree Canopy but was instructed that item was not open for public comment at this time.

Dara Beirne (*46:49) echoed many of the things the previous speaker had addressed and said this was a landmark in town. He said it was sad that more people did not know the history of this building and that many just saw an eyesore. He said that they should give applicants a chance to do something with this site and not be too dogmatic about what they were preserving.
