C. UPDATES
Oakland-Alameda Water Shuttle Wins Award of Excellence
The Northern California Section of the American Planning Association recently awarded the City of Alameda its Transportation Planning Award of Excellence for the Oakland-Alameda Water Shuttle.
In March, the Water Shuttle carried 7,512 passengers and 1,360 bicycles. Since launching on July 17, 2024, the Water Shuttle has carried over 73,000 passengers, with an average daily ridership of 400.
On April 9, a new service schedule was implemented with minor alterations to improve the connection to the Oakland Ferry weekday morning departures, and to add an extra ride at the end of the evening on weekends. The project team is evaluating options to expand service in July.

Neighborhood Greenways
On Saturday, April 19, the project team will host the San Jose Ave and Versailles Ave Pop-up event to hear about safety concerns and gather input on draft concept plans for each of these streets. From 10am to 1pm, there will be info/activity stations at San Jose/Chestnut and at Versailles/Lincoln.
The public can also provide input on existing safety issues on the interactive web map. People can also provide input on the concept plans via the webpage, after the pop-up.
New all-way stop signs will be installed on Pacific Ave/Willow St and Pacific Ave/Walnut St the week of April 14, to improve safety for people walking and biking across these busy streets and increase visibility for all. This is the first phase of construction for the first Neighborhood Greenway segment, Pacific Ave from Lafayette to Oak, with the rest planned for late summer/early fall.

Paid Parking & Increased Security at Ferry Terminals
Paid parking and increased on-site security are planned at Harbor Bay Ferry Terminal in late spring 2025 and Seaplane Lagoon Ferry Terminal in late summer. It will launch with paid parking on Tu/We/Th only, to open up parking spaces on these busy days, and offset security costs. The rate will be $3/day, with options to pay via app, text, or pay station. Staff have worked with SF Bay Ferry to finalize a communications plan, which will begin in the weeks leading up to launch. The public can stay up to date by subscribing to the parking mailing list.
