Brief description of the subject to be printed on the agenda, sufficient to inform the City Council and public of the nature of the referral:

This referral addresses regional actions to evaluate the ramifications of the historic ban on trucks over 4.5 tons on I-580 between Grand Avenue in Oakland and Foothill Boulevard in Hayward. Recently Caltrans partnered with the City of Oakland and the Bay Area Air District to evaluate how removing the existing truck weight restriction on I-580, commonly referred to as the I-580 truck ban, would affect safety, reliability, and efficiency along the I-880 and I-580 corridors. This Resolution outlines the City of Alameda support for the I 580 Truck Access Study and directs staff to work with study partners to expand the project study area to include all impacted parts of Alameda.
