Proclamation Declaring May 19 to May 23, 2014 as Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School Pilots Basketball Week.  (City Manager 2110)

Whereas, the Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School Men's Basketball Team won the California Interscholastic Federation Division V State Championship on Friday, March 28, 2014; and
 
Whereas, at the California State Championship game in Sacramento, the Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School Men's Basketball Team played with rigor and perseverance, beating Renaissance Academy by a score of 57-32; and
 
Whereas, the Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School Men's Basketball Team won the state championship for the fifth time in school history; and
 
Whereas, during the 2013-2014 season the Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School Men's Basketball Team, also won the Tri-County League Championship, the North Coast Section Championship, and the Northern California Regional Championship; and  
 
Whereas, the men on the Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School Basketball Championship Team played with integrity and skill, excelling on the court, as well as in the classroom and in the community; and
 
Whereas, the performance of the Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School Men's Basketball Team and the coaches deserves the highest commendation; and  
 
WHEREAS, the Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School faculty, staff, coaches, and family members join the City Council in celebrating the Men's Basketball Team's victory.
 
Now, therefore, be it resolved, that I, Marie L. Gilmore, Mayor of the City of Alameda, do hereby proclaim May 19 through May 23, 2014 as Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School Pilot's Basketball Week in the City of Alameda and encourage the residents to join with me in recognizing the determination and success of the team and applaud them for their outstanding achievement.
