EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The City Council is required to adopt a resolution to certify the results of the General Municipal Election.
BACKGROUND
Elections Code Section 10262 requires the governing body of the City of Alameda (City) to adopt a resolution declaring the results of an election.
DISCUSSION
The Certificates of Election for the Consolidated General Municipal Election held on November 8, 2022 are attached (Exhibit 1).
Offices:
* Candidate Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft received the highest number of votes cast for and is elected to the office of Mayor.
* Candidates Tony Daysog and Tracy Jensen received the two highest number of votes cast for and are elected to the office of Councilmember.
Measures:
Measure E amending the City Charter to allow City Council to increase Mayor and Councilmember salaries passed. The Charter amendments to Sections 2-1.1, 2-4 and 22-9 will be certified and the City Charter will be revised.
Measure F increasing the Transient Occupancy Tax passed by a majority vote. The ordinance amending Alameda Municipal Code Section 3-61 will be certified.
ALTERNATIVES
City Council is required to certify the election results, therefore, alternatives are not being provided.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The funds for this election were budgeted in the City Clerk's Election Program in the General Fund. No additional appropriations are needed.
