EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Base Reuse and Economic Development (BRED) Department is responsible for operation and maintenance of City of Alameda-owned or controlled leased, and vacant buildings at Alameda Point as well as several other locations throughout Alameda. Staff is seeking City Council authorization to enter into agreements with two firms - Rex Moore Group, Inc., and Tri-Signal Integration, Inc - to provide routine monitoring, annual inspections and on-call maintenance for existing Fire Alarm Systems in these buildings. These firms were selected through a competitive process. Staff recommends two, five-year on-call agreements, each with a total value not-to-exceed $150,000 (Exhibits 1 and 2).

BACKGROUND

On-call Service Provider Agreements are used for services requiring expertise that City of Alameda (City) staff does not have and/or to supplement City staff during periods of peak work demand. Currently, there is a need for monitoring, inspection, and maintenance services for existing fire alarm systems within BRED-managed properties. These on-call agreements provide the City with the ability to respond more quickly to address these safety-related needs.
