EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The purpose of SSHRB is to assess and report to the City Council the social service needs of the people of Alameda and to encourage the formation of private social welfare organizations to serve those unmet needs.
BACKGROUND
SSHRB continues to oversee and comment on City programs, sponsor community events and engagement initiatives to raise awareness and strategize to bring community members together. This item is a regularly occurring agenda item to discuss Workgroup Reports for SSHRB.
DISCUSSION
Currently, SSHRB has three workgroups:
1. The Road Home/People Experiencing Homelessness (Means/Green/Buchholz)
• Updates on the Dignity Village Resident Advisory Board
• Status on presentation with Mastick Senior Center and Encinal High School
2. Human Relations/Alamedans United Against Hate (Yamashiro-Omi/Bryant)
• Updates on future initiatives, communication with organizations, and City-wide collaboration
3. Domestic Violence Task Force (Wolf)
• Updates on domestic violence initiatives and progress with religious organizations
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Board discuss and review SSHRB Workgroup Reports.
