AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A LEASE WITH PYKA, INC., A DELAWARE CORPORATION, FOR BUILDING 39, LOCATED AT 950 WEST TOWER AVENUE, ALAMEDA, CALIFORNIA, FOR AN EIGHT YEAR LEASE TERM WITH AN ADDITIONAL THREE YEAR EXTENSION OPTION FOR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF AUTONOMOUS ELECTRIC AIRCRAFT
WHEREAS, City-owned Building 39 (the "Premises") consists of approximately 106,000 square feet of rentable space that is currently unoccupied; and
WHEREAS, in October 2022 the City issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for potential tenants to occupy the Premises; and
WHEREAS, Pyka is an established firm providing research and development of autonomous electric aircraft, and Pyka submitted a proposal in response to the City's RFP for the Premises; and
WHEREAS, the City and Pyka have negotiated a lease with an initial term of eight (8) years and an option to extend the term for an additional three (3) years under certain conditions; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Alameda that by four affirmative votes that:
