Title

Discussion of Social Service Human Relations Board FY 2025-26 Work Plan

Body

To: Honorable President Scott Means and Members of the Social Service Human Relations Board (SSHRB)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Each year, SSHRB presents an annual work plan to City Council for its consent. SSHRB’s annual work plan is typically approved by the Board at the March or April meeting in order to be presented to the City Council at its first meeting in May or June. An amendment by the Board President and Vice President is being proposed to the Community Needs Assessment portion of the SSHRB workplan.

BACKGROUND

The City of Alameda Municipal Code (AMC) describes that one of the duties of SSHRB is to adopt a plan for the performance of its delineated functions “with advice and consent of the City Council.”

At the December 5, 2024 retreat meeting, SSHRB reviewed the 2024-25 Work Plan with special attention to developing a strategy for each of their goals. At the March 20 SSHRB regular meeting, Board members voted on and approved their 2025-26 workplan. When reviewing the timeline for the upcoming Community Needs Assessment, it was discovered the timeline is longer than originally anticipated.

DISCUSSION

At the March 20 SSHRB regular meeting, Board members voted on and approved their 2025-26 workplan. An amendment by the Board President and Vice President is being proposed to the Community Needs Assessment portion of the SSHRB workplan.

RECOMMENDATION

Approve the amendment to the 2024-25 SSHRB workplan.

Respectfully submitted,

Grecia Mannah-Ayon, Housing and Human Services Program Manager
