EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Staff is recommending that City Council designate Jennifer Ott, City Manager, Amy Wooldridge, Assistant City Manager, Lisa Maxwell, Community Development Director, Len Aslanian, Assistant City Attorney, Lois Butler, Economic Development Division Manager, and Lisa Fitts, Community Development Manager as the real property negotiators for 1900 Thau Way, Alameda (Premises), which will allow them to meet with City Council in closed session to discuss price and terms related to occupancy of the Premises in a manner compliant with all applicable laws and to represent the City in negotiations with a public or private party.
BACKGROUND
The Alameda Emergency Food, Inc. (Food Bank) is currently leasing the Premises, which includes a trailer, for use as offices, storage and a food pickup location for food insecure Alameda residents. The lease with the Food Bank commenced on February 1, 1991, expired on February 1, 2016 and has been month-to-month since that time. The Food Bank requested to terminate the lease as soon as practical and transfer the on-site trailer to All Good Living Foundation (AGLF).
AGLF is interested in leasing the Premises for four years and eleven months and accepting the transfer of the trailer. AGLF's use would be providing community services to those in need, including students, families, school staff and the unhoused, by distributing clothing, toiletries and food.
