EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The purpose of the Social Service Human Relations Board (SSHRB) is to assess and report to the City Council the social service needs of the people of Alameda and to encourage the formation of private social welfare organizations to serve those unmet needs.
BACKGROUND
SSHRB continues to oversee and comment on City programs, sponsor community events and engagement initiatives to raise awareness and strategize to bring community members together. This item is a regularly occurring agenda item to discuss Workgroup Report Outs for SSHRB.
DISCUSSION
Currently, SSHRB has three workgroups:
1. The Road Home/People Experiencing Homelessness (Means/Green/Buchholz)
• Updates on the Road Home progress and age-friendly cities initiative.
2. Human Relations/Alamedans United Against Hate (Yamashiro-Omi/Bryant)
• Updates on future initiatives, communication with organizations, and City-wide collaboration.
3. Domestic Violence Task Force (Wolf)
• Updates on domestic violence initiatives and progress on the biannual task force meeting.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Board share and discuss SSHRB Workgroup Report Outs.
