EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

On May 7, 2024, the City Council awarded a contract to Gruendl Inc. dba Ray's Electric in the amount of $211,542.50, which included a $20,000 contingency, for the Lincoln Avenue / Walnut Street Safety Improvement Project.

Two change orders totaling $15,521.02 were approved over the course of the project. Sufficient funding was available from the contingency to pay for the additional expenses with a total project cost of $205,974.02. The improvements executed under the subject contract are complete in accordance with project plans and specifications. Staff recommends City Council acceptance of the work.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION

The work completed by Gruendl Inc. dba Ray's Electric includes upgraded striping along Lincoln Avenue and rectangular rapid flashing beacons, signage and striping at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Walnut Street. This work will improve vehicle and pedestrian safety by reducing vehicle speeds approaching and through the intersection, and improve pedestrian visibility with the upgraded painted bulbouts, and flashing beacons. Notice to Proceed was issued on July 29, 2024 and work began on October 07, 2024. On November 18, 2024, Public Works staff performed a final inspection of the public improvements. The completed work is acceptable to the Public Works Department.
