EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Staff is recommending that City Council designate City Manager Gerry Beaudin, Base Reuse and Economic Development Director Abigail Thorne-Lyman, Base Reuse Manager Alesia Strauch, Acting City Attorney Len Aslanian, and JLL Managing Director Kristi Childers, as the real property negotiators for the lease for Building 24 at Alameda Point, 2301 Monarch St., Alameda CA 94501 (Building 24), which will allow them to meet with City Council in closed session to discuss price and terms related to a lease of the premises in a manner compliant with all applicable laws and to represent the City of Alameda (City) in negotiations with a public or private party.
BACKGROUND
Building 24, located at 2301 Monarch Street at Alameda Point, consists of three hangar bays with shared office space and restrooms. It was constructed in 1990 and conveyed to the City in 2013. The City recently re-roofed Building 24 and marketed it for lease or sale in 2025. Presently, one of the three bays is leased, and the other two are vacant.
Through its commercial real estate brokers, JLL, the City asked for letters of interest (LOIs) for parties interested in leasing or purchasing Building 24.
