Title
Adoption of Resolution Setting the 2025 Regular City Council Meeting Dates. (City Clerk 10012010)
Body
To: Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council
From: Lara Weisiger, City Clerk
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Every year in December, City Council is required to adopt a resolution setting the meeting dates for the following year. With the exception of August, the proposed resolution sets City Council meetings as the first and third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. Staff is recommending no meetings in August.
BACKGROUND
Section 3-7 (B) of the City Charter and Alameda Municipal Code Section 2-1.1 require that City Council adopt a resolution setting the dates of its regular meetings in December of the preceding year.
On December 7, 2021, City Council approved a recommendation of the Social Service Human Relations Board to have members of every City of Alameda policy/legislative body review each body's meeting dates to ensure maximum attendance by the members.
DISCUSSION
City Council should review the dates to ensure maximum attendance by members of the public and propose any desired changes. Since City Council does not historically meet during the month of August, the resolution does not provide for any regular meetings in August. If needed in the future, City Council may adopt a resolution amending the 2025 regular meeting dates.
ALTERNATIVES
* Set the 2025 regular City Council meeting dates as set forth in the attached resolution.
* Revise the resolution to modify certain meeting dates.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact from setting regular City Council meeting dates.
