EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On January 22, 2026, Housing and Human Services Program Manager Camille Rodriguez will be leading the Point-in-Time (PIT) Count for the City of Alameda. The PIT Count is a citywide survey that estimates how many people are experiencing homelessness in a designated 24-hour period in Alameda. It helps secure vital funding for the city to address the issue.

BACKGROUND
On January 22, 2026, Housing and Human Services Program Manager Camille Rodriguez will be leading the Point-in-Time (PIT) Count for the City of Alameda. The PIT Count is a citywide survey that estimates how many people are experiencing homelessness on a given day in January in Alameda. It helps secure vital funding for the city to address the issue.

The count focuses on people who, on the night of the count, are:
* Sheltered (living in emergency shelters or transitional housing) or
* Unsheltered (staying outdoors or places not designed for habitation including vehicles, streets, parks and abandoned buildings)

The PIT Count is an essential element in our effort to end homelessness. The campaign presents a great opportunity to raise awareness about the myriad challenges our homeless citizens face, hear personal experiences from those experiencing homelessness, and demonstrate the compassion and generosity of the Alameda County community thru provision of basic items such as hats, gloves, socks, and toiletries. Connections are made to community resources based on individual needs.

DISCUSSION
