Executive Summary

 

At its March 19, 2024 meeting, the Alameda City Council approved revisions to the Rules and Procedures for the Economic Development Advisory Panel.

Background

 

At its March 19, 2024 meeting, the City Council approved the following revisions to the EDAP Rules and Procedures:

                     Clarified that changes to EDAP’s “Purpose” and  "Membership” must be approved by the City Council;

                     Added an “at large business representative or community/resident business liaison” to represent local concerns;

                     Changed the set terms of members to an open-ended appointment, subject to the Mayor and Council’s reassessment, to maintain EDAP’s coherence and consistency;

                     Changed the election of officers from two (2) to four (4) year terms;

                     Specified “Maintenance of Membership” to reflect that the appointed members are currently employed in Alameda, representing their designated sectors; and

                     Miscellaneous minor changes related to a change in a department name, readability, and adjournment of the meeting.

This item is presented for information purposes only.  No action is required. 

 

Staff will schedule EDAP elections of officers at its next regular meeting, Wednesday, December 11, 2024.  The Chair and Vice Chair are eligible to serve four-year terms and may be reelected to their positions.
