Title
Recommendation to Adopt Public Art Commission Meeting Calendar for 2026 that Seeks to Avoid Possible Conflicts that Inhibit Maximum Public Participation
Body
To: Honorable Chair and Members of the Public Art Commission
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report outlines the proposed Public Art Commission (PAC) meetings for 2026. The proposed schedule accounts for potential scheduling conflicts that may arise stemming from holidays or other conflicts.
BACKGROUND
The PAC regularly scheduled meetings are on the third Monday of every other month. The following shows the third Monday of every other month and the potential conflicts in parentheses.
• 1/19/2026 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
• 3/16/2026
• 5/18/2026
• 7/20/2026
• 9/21/2026
• 11/16/2026
DISCUSSION
The regularly scheduled meeting days for the Planning Board are the second and fourth Mondays of the month. The regularly scheduled meeting days for the City Council are the first and third Tuesday of the month. Considering these other meeting schedules, in addition to any other regularly scheduled PAC meetings identified by commissioners as potentially hindering public participation, staff propose that the PAC adopt the following meeting calendar for 2026:
• 1/21/2026
• 3/16/2026
• 5/18/2026
• 7/20/2026
• 9/21/2026
• 11/16/2026
ALTERNATIVES
• Adopt Public Art Commission meeting calendar for 2026 that seeks to avoid possible conflicts that inhibit maximum public participation.
• Select different dates for any or all Public Art Commission meetings for 2026 to avoid possible conflicts that inhibit maximum public participation.
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt Public Art Commission meeting calendar for 2026 that seeks to avoid possible conflicts that inhibit maximum public participation.
Respectfully submitted,
Jackie Keliiaa, Development Manager
Secretary, Public Art Commission
