Brief description of the subject to be printed on the agenda, sufficient to inform the City Council and public of the nature of the referral:

On December 21, 2021, Police Chief Nishant Josh recommended City Council approve the purchase and implementation of license plate readers (LPRs) at fixed locations as well as on vehicles. At that time, Council by a vote of 3:2 (Councilmembers Vella and Knox-White opposing) gave direction for the Chief to proceed with the purchase and implementation of License Plate Readers at fixed locations only, but to hold off on the LPRs on vehicles until after the implementation at the fixed locations. It is my understanding that the Police Chief's recommendation is still to proceed with the implementation at both fixed locations and on the vehicles.
