CITY OF ALAMEDA ORDINANCE NO. _____

AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A LEASE WITH LONGSHOT SPACE TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION, A DELAWARE CORPORATION, FOR A TERM OF THIRTY-SEVEN MONTHS FOR A PORTION OF BUILDING 29 KNOWN AS SUITE 200, LOCATED AT 1701 MONARCH STREET, AT ALAMEDA POINT

WHEREAS, Building 29, located at 1701 Monarch Street, is an approximately 19,480 square-foot former Naval workshop and gun-testing facility, with an unusual size and configuration that is only usable by a limited pool of businesses; and

WHEREAS, the workshop portion of Building 29 is currently leased by Dreyfuss Capital Partners, LLC., and used by a variety of metalworkers and craftspeople; and

WHEREAS, Building 29 is slated for eventual demolition as part of the future DePave Park; and

WHEREAS, Longshot Space Technologies, Inc., a Delaware Corporation (Longshot) is a start-up company developing a non-rocket-based satellite launcher that uses a linear accelerator tube instead of traditional vertical lift and Longshot’s prototype accelerator is uniquely suited for the gun-testing portion of the Building; and
