The areas around the intersections of Shoreline Drive and Willow Street, and of Shell Gate Place, have historically flooded when the storm system cannot discharge stormwater to the Alameda beach area. The Retrofit of Shell Gate Place & Willow Street Outfalls Project rehabilitated and fortified four (4) existing storm drains and installed four (4) new outfall and overflow structures to improve drainage and reduce localized flooding. These improvements will also improve the safety and reliability of roadways, walkways, and bikeways in the area.
