EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Staff is recommending that City Council designate Jennifer Ott, City Manager, Andrew Thomas, Interim Base Reuse and Economic Development Director, Annie Cox, Acting Management Analyst and Len Aslanian, Assistant City Attorney, as the real property negotiators for the Lease for 1.7 acres of City owned property located at 677 West Ranger Avenue and along Pan Am Way between West Midway Avenue and West Ranger Avenue (Premises), which will allow them to meet with City Council in closed session to discuss price and terms related to purchase of the Premises in a manner compliant with all applicable laws and to represent the City of Alameda (City) in negotiations with a public or private party.
BACKGROUND
The Alameda Food Bank is currently located as a tenant in Building 92. The Alameda Food Bank has made a proposal to purchase the 1.7-acre premise across the street, located at 677 West Ranger Avenue and along Pan Am Way, to construct a new, permanent "Community Market" food bank facility. The Premises is currently developed with a single building (Building 607), a cell tower lease, and a parking lot.
DISCUSSION
Under Government Code Section 54956.8, Title 5, Division 2, Part 1, Chapter 9, City Council must identify, in an open and public session, the real property negotiators for negotiation of the price and terms concerning real property, such as the Premises.
