EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On November 18, 2025, City Council awarded a $353,100 agreement to Bay Area Lightworks, Inc., which included a 10% contingency, for the replacement of existing lighting systems at Lincoln Park. The improvements made under the subject agreement are complete and acceptable to staff. Staff recommends City Council accept the work and the as-built plans (Exhibit 1).
BACKGROUND
The City of Alameda’s (City) park system is a vital component of the City’s infrastructure and quality of life. Parks provide open space for recreation, relaxation, and community connection. Proper lighting of park pathways supports public safety and accessibility by improving visibility, deterring crime, and creating a comfortable environment for pedestrians.
On November 18, 2025, City Council awarded a contract in the amount of $353,100, including contingency, to Bay Area Lightworks, Inc. for the Lincoln Park Pathway Lighting Project.
The Lincoln Park Lighting Project contemplated the replacement of the existing pathway lighting systems, including poles, foundations, and all underground electrical infrastructure, and installing a new, dedicated electrical service to support the updated lighting system.
DISCUSSION
The Project is complete as contemplated and is acceptable to the Public Works Department. The final Project cost was $339,303; approximately $13,797 remains in the Capital Improvement Project C 16000 for use on future lighting projects. Staff recommends City Council accept the work and the as-...
