Review Volunteer of the Year Award Winner Recommendations
Body
To: Honorable President Scott Means and Members of the Social Services Human Relations Board
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Road Home committee will bring forward the finalists for the Volunteer of the Year award for discussion with all board members.
BACKGROUND
SSHRB is divided into several subcommittees, including The Road Home committee. This committee is comprised of President Scott Means, Vice President Samantha Green, and Board Member Michelle Buccholz. The Road Home committee will be awarding the Volunteer of the Year honor to two Alameda residents that have served and uplifted their community through extensive, meaningful volunteer work. The committee will award one person in two categories: adult and youth. The Road Home created and disseminated a survey throughout the community to accept nominations for this award, which closed on October 10, 2025. The Road Home has selected potential finalists for the award, which will be brought before the SSHRB for discussion. These individuals will be honored and recognized by the SSHRB at the December 4, 2025 SSHRB meeting. The following criteria were used by the committee to select awardees:
1. Community Impact (1-5 pts)
2. Commitment and Dedication (1-5 pts)
3. Leadership and Inspiration (1-5 pts)
4. Bonus: Does this nominee align with the SSHRB purpose and goals? (0-2)
