Title

Discussion of Social Service Human Relations Board FY 2026-27 Scope of Work

Body

To: Honorable President Scott Means and Members of the Social Service Human Relations Board

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Each year SSHRB, in collaboration with City staff, develop and present an annual work plan to the City Council for its consent. SSHRB's annual work plan is typically approved by the Board at its April meeting in order to be presented to the City Council at its first meeting in June. Thanks to increasing staff capacity, it has become prudent to discuss and develop not only the annual work plan, but also to reevaluate the Board's scope of work. The finalized scope of work will be presented to City Council for approval.

BACKGROUND
Each year SSHRB, in collaboration with City staff, develop and present an annual work plan to the City Council for its consent. SSHRB's annual work plan is typically approved by the Board at its April meeting in order to be presented to the City Council at its first meeting in June. Thanks to increasing staff capacity, it has become prudent to discuss and develop not only the annual work plan, but also to reevaluate the Board's scope of work to ensure that the Board is fulfilling its charter to act in a professional advisory capacity. C'Mone Falls, Housing & Human Services Division Manager, will give a brief overview of the scope of work for FY 26-27, which will likely focus on the following three areas:

1. Community outreach
2. Policy development
3. Needs assessment
