EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Mastick Senior Center roof has exceeded its life expectancy and requires replacement. The Alameda Police Department roof is also nearing the end of its service life. These replacements are scheduled projects included in the City of Alameda's (City) Capital Improvement Plan and funded through the Capital Facilities Internal Service Fund. Staff recommends City Council award the proposed agreement to Garland/DBS, Inc. in an amount not-to-exceed $1,635,800.
BACKGROUND
Mastick Senior Center, a division of the Alameda Recreation & Park Department (ARPD), provides a variety of programs and services in the areas of health, education, and recreation to adults age 50 and older. The facility is highly used year-round to host recurring programs and special events.
The Alameda Police Department building is the primary facility housing the City's Police Department including support services. The facility is fully operational year-round, 24 hours a day, and is essential to ensuring that the department can meet its responsibility for protecting the City's residents, property owners, and businesses. The facility is designated as one of the City's Emergency Operations Center, playing a key role in emergency/disaster response.
