EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
City of Alameda (City) fleet vehicles are serviced and repaired by Public Works Fleet Services at the Garage Central Repair Building. Vehicle lifts provide necessary access to an automobile's undercarriage enabling staff to better and more efficiently function to conduct service and repairs. The Garage Central Repair Building's existing heavy-duty vehicle lift is well past its useful life, is in disrepair and is unserviceable. Staff recommends City Council authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement with Liftnow for the purchase and installation of a replacement heavy duty vehicle lift in an amount not-to-exceed $436,500. Pricing is based on Liftnow's Sourcewell Contract #121223-LFT. The City is an active member of Sourcewell, a national purchasing agency, whose cooperative purchasing agreements have been competitively solicited in conformance with state and local purchasing requirements.
BACKGROUND
Fleet Services oversees the City fleet including 453 vehicles, trucks, lawn care, construction equipment, trailers and towed machinery. The City fleet includes fire apparatus, police vehicles, public works trucks, parks equipment, and general administrative vehicles. The division provides essential support to City departments by ensuring vehicles and machinery are in good working order with a focus on safety, sustainability, and reliability.
