Body
To: Honorable Chair and Members of the Public Art Commission
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Public Art Commission (PAC) has expressed an interest in developing a website that would clearly identify existing public artworks in Alameda. Staff contracted with web designer, Jose Fernandez, and photographer, Maurice Ramirez, to develop a website dedicated to the City of Alameda's (City) public art collection. The website features an interactive map and brief information about individual public artworks throughout the City. In October, Mr. Fernandez presented an overview of the website and solicited feedback from the PAC. This presentation will provide an overview of the finalized website.
BACKGROUND
In December of 2020, the PAC identified improved marketing of the Public Art Program as a top priority. One element of a broader marketing effort that has been discussed by the PAC includes the development of a website that would clearly identify existing public artworks in Alameda. In early July, staff began working with web designer, Jose Fernandez, and photographer, Maurice Ramirez, to develop a website dedicated to the City's public art collection. In October, 2022 Mr. Fernandez presented an overview of the website and solicited feedback from the PAC.
In this meeting, Mr. Fernandez and staff will provide an overview of the finalized website.
DISCUSSION
Over the past several months, staff has worked with Mr. Fernandez to develop a website dedicated to public art in Alameda. In addition to an interactive map, allowing a user to explore the existing public art in Alameda, the website will feature a series of photographs by Mr. Ramirez.
