Title
Discussion of Social Service Human Relations Board FY 2026-27 Work Plan
Body
To: Honorable President Scott Means and Members of the Social Service Human Relations Board
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Each year SSHRB presents an annual work plan to the City Council for its consent. SSHRB’s annual work plan is typically approved by the Board at its April meeting in order to be presented to the City Council at its first meeting in June. The Social Service Human Relations Board (SSHRB) will break up into their committees to discuss the overall impact each group would like to make and identify 2-3 goals they would like to accomplish for the next FY.
BACKGROUND
The City of Alameda’s Municipal Code (AMC) describes that one of the duties of SSHRB is to adopt a plan for the performance of its delineated functions “with advice and consent of the City Council.” At the January 15, 2026 meeting, the Board reviewed progress on the current work plan and agreed on continuing three main focus areas:
1. The Road Home-monitoring and participating in community awareness of housing and homelessness programs.
2. Alamedans United Against Hate (AUAH)-a focus on equity and creating a welcoming city for all residents.
3. Domestic Violence Work Group-leading and participating in the City’s Quarterly Domestic Violence Task Force meetings.
DISCUSSION
SSHRB’s annual work plan is typically approved by the Board at its April meeting in order to be presented to the City Council at its first meeting in June. Staff recommends that the Board begin consideration of its 2026-27 Work Plan during the March 26, 2026 meeting.
