Proclamation Declaring May 5 to May 9, 2014 as Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School Pilots Cross Country Week. (City Manager 2110)

Whereas, the Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School Men's Cross Country Team won the California Interscholastic Federation Division V State Championship on Saturday, November 30, 2013; and
Whereas, at the California State Championship race in Fresno, the Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School Men's Cross Country Team ran with endurance, never giving up, to prevail over Marin Academy by an astonishing 55 points; and
Whereas, the Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School Cross Country Team won the State Championship for the second year in a row; and
Whereas, during the 2013 season, the Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School Men's Cross Country Team also won the Tri-County League Championship, the North Coast Section Championship, as well as the California Interscholastic Federation State Championship; and
Whereas, the men on the Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School Cross Country Championship Team ran with integrity and skill, excelling on the course, as well as in the classroom and the community; and
Whereas, the performance of the Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School Cross Country Team and the coaches deserves the highest commendation; and
Whereas, the Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School faculty, staff, coaches, and family members join the City Council in celebrating the Men's Cross Country Team's victory.
Now, therefore, be it resolved, that I, Marie L. Gilmore, Mayor of the City of Alameda, do hereby proclaim May 5 - 9, 2014 as Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School Pilot's Cross Country Week in the City of Alameda and encourage the residents of Alameda to join with me in recognizing the determination and success of the team and applaud them for their outstanding achievement.
