CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. _____

COMMENDING ALAMEDA FIRE DEPARTMENT DIVISION CHIEF DAREN OLSON FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CITY OF ALAMEDA

WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Alameda records its appreciation for service faithfully rendered by Division Chief Daren Olson to the City of Alameda; and

WHEREAS, Daren Olson's career with the City of Alameda Fire Department spanned 28 and a half years starting on June 16, 1986, until December 13, 2014, and included the following assignments: Firefighter, Apparatus Operator, Lieutenant, Fire Captain, Division Chief, and Interim Deputy Fire Chief; and

WHEREAS, Daren Olson was promoted from Firefighter to Apparatus Operator on June 25, 1995; and

WHEREAS, Daren Olson was promoted to Lieutenant on July 6, 1997; and

WHEREAS, Daren Olson was promoted to Fire Captain on April 11, 1999, he was the Department's Assistant Training Director from July 1997 through January 2000, and was the Peer Counselor and Program Manager of the Critical Incident Stress Management and Confined Space Rescue Teams; and

WHEREAS, Daren Olson was promoted to Division Chief on November 11, 2007, served as Interim Deputy Fire Chief, Fire Marshal and Administrative Division Chief from 2010 to 2013, and has been managing the Fire Department's fleet of vehicles since 2007; and

WHEREAS, Daren Olson and his wife Michaela, are looking forward to sending their children Greg and Melissa off to college and spending time with family and friends; and

WHEREAS, on December 13, 2014, DAREN OLSON will officially retire from his position as Division Chief for the City of Alameda's Fire Department, and will be greatly missed by the Department, City Staff, and the entire Alameda Community.
