BACKGROUND

On April 15, 2014, the City Council adopted plans and specifications and authorized a call for bids for repair and resurfacing of certain streets, Phase 33, No. P.W. 02-14-04. On June 17, 2014, the City Council awarded a construction contract in the amount of $2,356,430.63, including contingencies, to MCK, Inc. for the project.

DISCUSSION

The project has been completed in accordance with the plans and specifications and is acceptable to the Public Works Department. Approximately 4.5 miles were resurfaced and 0.5 miles were slurry sealed. The final project cost, including extra work orders, is $2,146,659.03, therefore, the project was under budget by $209.771.60.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The funds for this project are budgeted in the Capital Improvement Program (Fund 310 Project Number 9820133), with funds available from Construction Improvement Tax Fund (Fund 164) $115,000, Grant Funds (Fund 310) $636,000, Citywide Development Fee Fund (Fund 340.12), $700,000, Gas Tax (Fund 211) $586,000, Sewer Fund (Fund 602) $200,000, Measure B (Fund 215) $500,000, Vehicle Registration Fund (VRF) (Fund 288) $400,000. There is no impact to the General Fund.

MUNICIPAL CODE/POLICY DOCUMENT CROSS REFERENCE

This project is consistent with the Waste and Recycling Initiative of the Local Action Plan for Climate Protection by requiring recycling of 80% of all construction waste.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW

In accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), this project is Categorically Exempt under CEQA Guidelines Section 15301(c), Existing Facilities.
