BACKGROUND

The City of Alameda, as a Sanitary Sewer Collection System Agency, is required to implement a Sewer System Management Plan (SSMP) pursuant to Section 13267 of the California Water Code, which requires on-going cleaning and videoing of the City's sewer infrastructure. On April 2, 2014, the Public Works Department issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for citywide sewer mains video inspection and cleaning. On July 1, 2014, the City Council awarded a contract in the amount of $188,702.20 to National Plant Services, Inc. to complete the sewer inspection project.

DISCUSSION

The project has been completed in accordance with the project specifications and is acceptable to the Public Works Department. The work included the cleaning, inspection, and condition assessment of 151,318 linear feet of sewer main throughout the City. The final project cost, including extra work orders, was $146,464.08.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The funds for this project were budgeted in the Capital Improvement Program (Fund 310, Project Number 9084505), with funds available from the Sewer Enterprise Fund (Fund 602). The amount remaining is $42,238.12. There is no impact to the General Fund.

This action does not affect the Municipal Code.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW

In accordance with the California Environmental Act (CEQA), this project is Categorically Exempt under CEQA Guidelines Section 15306, Information Collection.
