BACKGROUND

 

On June 11, 2015, the City Council awarded a contract in the amount of $330,000, including contingencies, to Cratus, Inc. for the City of Alameda Facility Lateral Replacement Project, No. P.W. 03-15-05.  The project inspected and rehabilitated, as necessary, a portion of City owned private sewer laterals. The Consent Decree requirement is that all City owned sewer laterals be addressed by September 2024. 

 

DISCUSSION

 

The following is a list of sites completed under this contract.

                     Animal Shelter, 1590 Fortmann Way

                     Maintenance Service Center, 1616 Fortmann Way

                     Grand Street Boat Ramp, 2098 Grand St

                     Alameda Municipal Power, 2000 Grand St

                     McKinley Park, 2165 Buena Vista Ave

                     Parks & Rec Building, 2226 Santa Clara Ave

                     Carnegie Library, 2264 Santa Clara Ave

                     Jackson Park, San Jose and Park Ave

                     Shoreline Park, 2801 Seaview Pkwy

                     Fire Station #4, 2595 Mecartney Rd

The Veteran’s Building, West Branch Library and Police Station, although part of the plans, were not complete due to complications identified in the field.  These sites will be designed accordingly and addressed in the next City owned sewer lateral project.  Upper Washington Park and the second lateral at Franklin Park were also designed but not constructed as these sites were part of the alternate bid item, which was not awarded in its entirety.

 

The project is complete in accordance with the plans and specifications, and is acceptable to the Public Works Department.  The final cost for this contract, after the retention is paid, is $330,000.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

 

The project is budgeted in the Capital Improvement Program (Project No.90665) with monies allocated from the Fiscal Year 2014-15 General Fund Surplus (Fund 001) by Resolution 14990.

 

MUNICIPAL CODE/POLICY DOCUMENT CROSS REFERENCE

 

This action does not affect the Municipal Code.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW

 

In accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), this project is Categorically Exempt under CEQA Guidelines Section 15301(b), Existing Facilities.

 

RECOMMENDATION

 

Accept the Work of Cratus Inc. for Construction of City of Alameda Facility Lateral Replacement Project, No. P.W. 03-15-05.
