BACKGROUND
At the October 2015 Recreation and Park Commission meeting, Public Works staff provided a brief overview of planning for the gap closure in the Cross Alameda Trail, between Webster Street and Constitution Way. The Commission requested to be kept updated on the status of this project.
DISCUSSION
Public Works staff developed and brought a recommended design concept for this gap to the Transportation Commission’s January 27, 2016 meeting. The staff report and exhibit showing the recommended design option are attached.
The Transportation Commission approved the recommended option in concept, and requested further information, including volume data for all transportation modes, details of the safety improvements for the two major intersections (Webster/Atlantic and Constitution/Atlantic), and an exploration of using the City’s easement for a multi-use pathway. The Commission also requested that staff work with AC Transit on the proposed bus stop removal. Public Works staff will bring this item back to the Transportation Commission’s March 23rd meeting for a recommendation on the proposed design.
