BACKGROUND

In 1998, the City Council adopted a policy for Corporate Address Designations for Private or Public Streets (Corporate Addressing Policy) to encourage the citing of corporate campuses in Alameda (Exhibit 1). The policy outlines eligibility criteria, process, and requirements for naming a street after a corporate identity and was incorporated into the Street Naming Policy in effect at the time. Wind River Way was the first street named under these provisions.

In 2007, the City Council consolidated the Street Naming Policy with the Facilities Naming Policy (Exhibit 2). The consolidated Policy for Naming City Property, Facilities and Streets (Street Naming Policy) left the Cor...
