BACKGROUND
City Charter Section 19-2 requires a General Municipal Election to be held biennially on the date of, and consolidated with, the Statewide General Election in each even-numbered year.
DISCUSSION
In accordance with the City Charter and the California Elections Code, the City Council shall call for the November 8, 2016 General Municipal Election to be consolidated with the Statewide General Election. The following City offices will appear on the ballot: two City Councilmembers, one Auditor and one Treasurer, as well as all ballot or advisory measures or propositions, which may lawfully be submitted. The Alameda County Registrar of Voters will provide certain election-related services if the City agrees to reimburse costs.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The funds for this election are budgeted in the City Clerk's election account number 2220-61060 in the amount of $150,000 in Fiscal Year 2016-17.
