Re: Presentation of Alameda Free Library Fiscal Year 2015-2016 Annual Report
BACKGROUND
The "new" Main Library opened in November 2006 and both neighborhood Libraries were renovated by March 2010. Last year was the first year the Alameda Free Library provided an Annual Report to the City Council, so in this 10th year in the new building, the Alameda Free Library will present an Annual Report to the Community. See Exhibit 1 for the Alameda Free Library Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2015-2016.
DISCUSSION
Library staff has compiled Department highlights throughout the Fiscal Year of 2015-2016.
The Report discusses program highlights at the Main and Neighborhood Libraries for children, teens and adults. The Report shows the number of registered library card holders, the number, variety and participation in programs offered by the Libraries and the budget for this Fiscal Year. In addition, it provides updates on special projects for the Libraries, such as the replacement and installation of a new Integrated Library System (ILS), the Library Bicycle "Words on Wheels", Library Outdoors, a campaign for a new Seed & Tool Lending Library, and other opportunities to create more programs for all Alamedans.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact from presentation and acceptance of this report.
