Re: Recommendation to Amend the Contract with Ray's Electric to Increase the Contract Amount by $58,000, Including Contingency, for the Alameda Ferry Terminal Access Improvement Project for a Total of $176,320.

BACKGROUND

On February 16, 2016, the City Council awarded a contract in the amount of $118,320 to Ray's Electric for the Alameda ferry terminal access improvement project. The project includes the construction work pertaining to and including the installation of three Americans with Disability (ADA) ramps, installation of City furnished Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) Systems at the Main Street Ferry Terminal and Officer's Club (O'Club) along Main Street, striping of a high visibility crosswalk, installation of a pedestrian pathway, repair and restriping of the parking lot, installation of bollards, and installation of a driveway.

DISCUSSION
The City continues to be satisfied with the services provided by Ray's Electric. This additional contract amount will cover the following improvements: installation of a new operational vehicle entry gate as well as a pedestrian gate, a fence line along Main Street, lighting for the Main Street parking lot main entrance sign, additional double faced "Over flow Lot" destination signs, additional bollards, traffic striping and "no-parking signs" for the visibility of the lighted pedestrian crosswalk along Main Street, and removal and disposal of some trees and vegetation. A copy of the contract and first amendment are attached as Exhibits 1 and 2.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
