Proclamation
Whereas, St. Joseph Notre Dame Women’s Cross Country runner Kiera Marshall went undefeated during the Bay Counties League-East (BCL-E) season and won the BCL-E League Championship; and
Whereas, Kiera Marshall won several races this year including the prestigious Mt. Sac Invitational in Walnut, California; and
Whereas, Kiera Marshall qualified for the Foot Locker National Cross Country Championship race, where the top 40 high school runners from across the nation competed, and finished 26th; and
Whereas, Kiera Marshall won the North Coast Section Cross Country Championship and the Division 5 California Interscholastic Federation State Cross Country Championship; and
Whereas, the athletic program at St. Joseph Notre Dame High School began in 1930 and Kiera Marshall is the first female athlete in the school’s history to win a State Championship.
Now, therefore, be it resolved, that I, Trish Herrera Spencer, Mayor of the City of Alameda, do hereby proclaim January 17, 2017 as
Kiera Marshall Day
in the City of Alameda and wish her continued athletic success and recognition.
