Re: Recommendation to Approve a Five-Year Waiver of License Fees with Alameda Point Concours for Use of the Parade Grounds at Alameda Point Located on the Former Naval Air Station Alameda (NAS Alameda).

BACKGROUND

In 2016, Alameda Point Concours hosted their inaugural Alameda Point Concours d'Elegance (Concours d'Elegance), an exhibition for vintage and classic automobiles. Proceeds from the event were donated to the Boys and Girls Club, the Alameda Don Grant Youth Track Club, the Navy Sea Cadets, and the Alameda Police Foundation.

Alameda Point Concours is planning to make the Concours d'Elegance an annual event at the Parade Grounds at Alameda Point and is requesting the license fee be waived for the next five years.

DISCUSSION

One of only five Concours in Northern California, the goal of Alameda Point Concours is to exhibit vintage and classic automobiles while at the same time to put Alameda and Alameda Point on the map as one of the top destinations for this type of event. The inaugural Concours d'Elegance had over two hundred twenty (220) registered automobiles and an estimated three thousand people in attendance at last year's event. Local Alameda automobile collectors were showcased during the Concours and there were even a few prestigious non-local collectors who showcased one of a kind automobiles.
