Proclamation
Whereas, St. Joseph Notre Dame Men’s Cross Country runner Cooper Teare went undefeated during the Bay Counties League-East (BCL-E) season and won the BCL-E League Championship; and
Whereas, Cooper Teare won several races this year including the prestigious Mt. Sac Invitational in Walnut, California and the Stanford Invitational; and
Whereas, Cooper Teare won both the North Coast Section Cross Country Championship and the Division 5 California Interscholastic Federation State Cross Country Championship for the second year in a row; and
Whereas, Cooper Teare qualified for and competed in the Nike Cross Country National Championship race, where the top 200 high school runners from across the nation compete, and Cooper finished 16th; and
Whereas, because of his extraordinary season and placement at the Nike Cross Country National Race, Cooper Teare has earned High School All American Status in the sport of Cross Country.
Now, therefore, be it resolved, that I, Trish Herrera Spencer, Mayor of the City of Alameda, do hereby proclaim February 7th, 2017 as
Cooper Teare Day
in the City of Alameda and wish him continued athletic success and recognition.
