Re: Recommendation to Accept the Work of Ranger Pipeline Inc. for Lagoon Seawall Trunk Sewer Relocation Project, No. P.W. 01-12-03

BACKGROUND

On April 5, 2016, the City Council awarded a contract in the amount of $1,582,635, including contingencies, to Ranger Pipeline, Inc. for the construction of lagoon seawall trunk sewer relocation project, No. P.W. 01-12-03. This project included the abandonment and relocation of existing sanitary sewer mains that ran underneath residential properties, as the sewer main construction predated the construction of the homes. The project also entailed the removal of the sewer main that was located on the face of the lagoon seawall running between Paru Street and Bay Street, the replacement of the Paru Street pump station and associated force main, extension of a sewer main at the foot of Hawthorne Street, and the installation of three private ejector pumps to serve the properties at the foot of Sherman Street. In accordance with requirements of the Consent Decree, this project removed aging pipes from the system and substantially reduced the environmental risk, if any, if the pipes were to fail.

DISCUSSION

The project was complete in accordance with the plans and specifications, and is acceptable to the Public Works Department. The final cost for this contract, including all extra work orders, is $1,385,807.68.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The project was budgeted in the Capital Improvement Program (Project No. 90909), with monies from the Sewer Enterprise Fund (Fund 602). There is no impact to the General Fund.
